What a week!
Not only did I get to speak to many of my peers within the industry at the Featured Artists Coalition meeting on Wednesday, but I've also been catching up with some old friends and making strides with the new business.
The Wednesday meeting was fantastic. Although the well known faces of the organisation are receiving a lot of criticism for appearing as though they are trying to increase their incomes, what they're actually doing is looking out for every artist within the industry, signed or not and they're the best placed artists to do it. The idea is to bring about a restructuring of the industry to fit with the times, so it's not just a few lucky artists getting the breaks and fat cat labels pocketing most of the cash, it's to ensure that all deals are transparent and fair for everyone involved. The FAC hopes to improve circumstances for both artists and the music buying audience, giving more opportunities for artist development and a wider selection of quality music and simplified music buying options for music lovers. I'm happy to say that I've joined forces with the FAC and will hopefully be taking an active role within the organisation.
As for my own projects, they're shaping up nicely. I'll be teaming up with some writers from next week to start collaborating on the new album and am also a step closer to setting up my European tour. I should be heading into the studio at the start of May to get my tracks recorded and mastered and then my websites will get a huge overhaul for the launch of the new tracks, can't wait!
Right now though I could do with a holiday!! We might take a mini weekend break somewhere, need to look back over this past week and go 'hey, what just happened!?'
