Why The Name Of My Framework Had To Change
Last November I came up with a cosmology idea that I wanted to model and test. The only problem was, I had no idea at the time which family of mathematics it should belong to. Since I was initially suggesting that baryons spread across smooth spacetime were contributing gravitational ripples over cosmic timescales (the Ripplefield), the first option was to try a geometry-based model. However after a few weeks, it was clear that it wasn’t capturing all of the behaviours that I was trying to incorporate and so I looked to other ideas, briefly testing reaction-diffusion and Hydrodynamics.
I kept coming back to a wave equation because it felt right for many reasons and specifically had the propagation that the reaction-diffusion version wasn’t providing, but my concern was not being able to replicate Newtonian gravity. However, once the full equation was established, a test did produce a Newtonian gravity-like inward pressure, in addition to the outward flux propagation that I had been looking for. So from that point on, this became my canonical framework.
This left a dilemma with the name, especially as I discovered that another entropic model was using a similar name and there was confusion when searching for mine.
And so the new name, Modal Coherence Field (MCF), has been chosen. Not only does it represent the direction that the research is currently heading in, but by a happy coincidence, Modal has been my brand name for some time (from Modal jazz initially).
It’s going to take some getting used to after nine months, but it’s growing on me already.
